Fight Frizz This Fall and Keep Your Blowout Flawless

Fall brings cozy sweaters, crisp mornings, and yes, frizz. The cooler air and fluctuating humidity can make your hair feel puffy, staticky, or rough, which is why your blowouts may feel harder to maintain this time of year. The good news is that smoother, longer-lasting blowouts are completely doable with the right approach. It all comes down to one thing: cuticle control.
When the hair cuticle is sealed, your blowout lasts longer and looks shinier. When the cuticle is open or rough, moisture sneaks in and creates frizz. Below is a simple routine you can start using right away for smoother results at home.
Step 1: Start in the shower. Choose a hydrating shampoo and conditioner to give your hair moisture before you even pick up a blow dryer. This helps prevent static and keeps your ends from getting puffy.
Step 2: Prep with the right products. Apply a heat protectant and a smoothing product to damp hair. For clients who want a sleek and polished blowout, I love IGK’s Beach Club Blowout Styling Cream or Good Behavior Smoothing Cream. If you also want volume at the root, add an IGK volumizing mousse before you start drying.
Step 3: Work in small sections. Section your hair into 4 sections: top, sides, and back. Each section should be manageable. Manageable, meaning what fits comfortably inside your brush or blowout brush. This gives you control, which allows you to smooth each part evenly.
Step 4: Use tension when you dry The more tension you create with your round brush, the smoother your cuticle will lay. This is the key to preventing frizz and creating that salon-quality finish.
Step 5: Lock it in with cool air. Finish each section with a cool shot to seal the cuticle and add shine. This quick step makes a big difference in how long your blowout lasts because it helps your style set in place.
With consistent prep and the right technique, your blowouts can stay smooth, shiny, and manageable for days, even during tricky fall weather.
