Here’s the deal: most people have no idea there is a correct way to wash and condition their hair. And yes, that includes people who’ve been doing it for years.

Washing your hair the right way isn’t just about cleanliness — it’s the foundation of healthy hair, better styling, longer-lasting color, and fewer bad hair days.

Let’s break it down like a pro:

The Right Way to Shampoo & Condition Your Hair

✔️ Use less product, wash twice.

You don’t need a palm full of shampoo. Use a small amount (quarter-size or less), and shampoo twice:

  • First wash: breaks down oil, sweat, and product buildup.

  • Second wash: actually cleans your scalp and hair.

P.S. The first shampoo won't create many suds, THAT IS OK, still scrub your scalp and root area. Rinse then applythe same amount of shampoo and then you'll feel the suds on all their glory lol

✔️ Focus on your scalp, not your ends Your scalp is where oil, sweat, and buildup live. That’s where you should focus your scrubbing. Use your fingertips (not nails!) to massage in circular motions and boost circulation — it helps stimulate healthy hair growth too.

✔️ Rinse, rinse, rinse Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Move your hair around making sure you get the water everywhere. Leftover shampoo = dull, heavy hair.

✔️ Condition smart, not sloppy. Apply conditioner to your ends first, then work your way up toward the scalp (avoiding the roots if your hair gets oily). Your ends are the driest part — they need the most love. Bonus points if you have shower comb/brush to dispribute conditioner evenly.

✔️ Lather, don’t rush Take your time! Really rub in the conditioner. Think of it like skincare — applying moisturizer wont be nearly as effectie if you dont rub it in. Working the conditioner in gives it time to do its job.

✔️ Let it sit Leave conditioner in for 2–5 minutes so it can actually penetrate and hydrate your strands. Don’t rinse it out immediately.

✔️ Cool rinse = shiny hair Finish with a splash of cool water to help seal the cuticle and boost shine. It’s a small step that makes a big difference.

✔️ Bonus Tip: Comb it through Use a wide-tooth comb in the shower while the conditioner is in to help detangle and distribute the product evenly.

Why It Matters

When you treat your scalp and strands right in the shower, everything else gets easier — blowouts last longer, your hair stays cleaner, your color looks better, and you’ll need fewer styling products overall.

Healthy hair starts with good habits, not just good products.
